Future Proofing
>
Our house could be arranged that the Loft/guest space can turn into a fully closed off Loft like for a kids room.
A fireplace or Solar panels haven't been put up yet.
Other than the usual maintenance we are aiming with more growing plants and trees to create more wind shelter around the house and more shade for Summer.
Liveability
>
The house contains upcycled and new materials. All materials that have been reused in a proper way so that the long-term liveability is assured. With enough windows there is only little to no light necessary (during the day). The quick and dry access to a bathroom and a dry area holds a lot of comfort especially during wet winter days. No additional covered deck is necessary since you can open the bifold door fully and sit on the couch inside but feels you are outside.
Workmanship
>
A lot of materials have a story to tell in our house since around 50% of the materials are recycled. Not only materials also furniture included allows a unique style from varies backgrounds.
Functionality/Innovation Design
>
Our aim for the Tiny house was head height. We didn't want to duck or hide our heads on our day to day usage in the house. With this in mind we have build it within the measurements to its nearly maximum.
We also didn't plan to have a Loft from the beginning, but we needed another bracing element since our big window front especially with the corner window that is only connected to glass on glass needed extra support. To be able to have plenty of head height in the kitchen we felt okay to have a little less space in the Loft/Guest room (still enough to sit upright)
Storage was another focus to make the most of our 30square meter on floor space. We we´ve raised the Bedroom floor to be able to enter our storage from the outside. Enough space for bicycles and surfboards and everything else that is easy to access and store.
The latest addition has been the bathroom. We´ve only build it into this spot since we have had some joist overhanging and added some next to it to build a deck on top if that. The goal of our hand made compost toilet was that I didn't look or feel like a compost toilet. Instead of the Flush you can open the Lid for a cup of saw dust to put on top of it.
Aesthetic Appeal & Special Features
>
I assume the windows itself and especially the corner window allow to have that visual appealing. Facing with most of our main windows west to have beautiful sunsets.
