Liveability
>
We sold our 5 bedroom, 2 living area house which was too large, and to escape our mortgage and free up equity. We had recently renovated that house and loved the style, so we have incorporated this into our tiny house.
We love the softness of walking on carpet, and opted for this in the lounge, stairs and the entire upper level. We also love light colour walls with feature walls wallpapered.
A comfy couch is a must (we did not want a built in one with storage underneath), unfortunately our 2 dogs think they own the couch.
We love streaming Netflix etc, so a big smart TV complete with soundbar was something we both wanted, and while it may seem pretty big, it is actually a pleasure to watch from just under 3 metres away.
I also enjoy gaming, so had extra power points added in the main bedroom to setup a smaller TV and Playstation.
The second bedroom is setup as an office/hobby room, complete with a more feminine wallpaper which I always wanted but couldn't have in a household of males. Once jokingly named as the "b!tch batch" the name stuck. I love my very comfortable and useable work area, having a proper office chair is a must if I am working from home for 8 hours, comfort is very important. The desk is built using shelves as supports, and most of my art supplies live under the desk.
(My husband, Erron, is a keen guitarist and is using the caravan we called home while the house was being built as his "man cave" . So we each have our own quite place if we need it.)
The kitchen has more than adequate storage, by going tiny I discovered I didn't need 4 dinner sets and 50 coffee mugs. Everything I need firs in the kitchen except the food processor which fits in the cupboard under the stairs (which also fits a full size vacuum cleaner) I have plenty of bench space and it is super easy to clean up, especially when unloading the dishwasher - the drawers for the dinnerware, cups and cutlery is right beside it.
The original Sophie design features a wall between the kitchen and lounge, where the pantry and fridge go. We wanted a more open plan as well as a breakfast bar. We had to compromise with a smaller fridge freezer but the one we got is perfectly adequate. In terms of a pantry, we used the drawers and cupboard under the breakfast bar - opting for deeper drawers to store items such as cereal boxes which are quite tall.
Whilst curtains are not practical in most of the house, I have hung some over the trifold doors as these do soften the door frame and are nice and cosy in the winter.
Workmanship
>
We cannot fault the workmanship. The custom made cabinetry is of especially high quality and we could not be more pleased with it.
Functionality/Innovation Design

The breakfast bar doubling as a pantry is perfect for us. The floor plan is well thought out. We changed some of the windows, for example, the second bedroom had a window on the back in the original plan, but this would have meant the flue from the incinerating toilet would have been in front of it, but also there is no view from there and only gets morning sun briefly, so we had this moved to the front, and get views and sun now. And it leaves a full wall for art.
Aesthetic Appeal & Special Features
>
We love the classic Coloursteel dark cladding with the stained cedar contrast around the doors
We built the deck ourselves, I wanted a grand entry with wide steps that you could sit on. The pergola is from Trade Tested, we needed to add extra bracing for the high winds we experience occasionally. We also added a bar to sit at and enjoy the sun and admire the garden or view, similar to what we had at our old home. We added a courtyard and a garden to enhance the wow factor. We recently added a cantilevered car port (also from Trade Tested) behind the house.
Lighting is very important to me, the lounge downlights are RGB smart downlights operated by an app. On cold winter nights we choose a warm orange/yellow to make it feel cosy, in summer we may choose a cool blue. Over the breakfast bar there is a warm downlight that provided plenty of light to eat by. The main feature is out pendant light though we rarely use it except when cooking, it is too bright. There is LED strip lighting in the toe kicks of the kitchen and under the shelf where the microwave is. There is stair lighting up the side of the stairs. We have also added fairy lights on the shelf above the entrance to the lounge, and behind our bed, as well as coloured LED strip in the second bedroom. I also love lamps and have some of them scattered round the house, I love the one on our coffee table/storage box in the lounge, it casts lovely patterns at night.
